Judge Carolyn Wonacott
Carolyn, a Shuswap resident for twelve years, is well known in our community as the artistic director of Shuswap Dance Centre. The exploration of dance has been her passion and profession for most of her adult life. She has lived and worked in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, California and Mexico and has always been busy either performing or teaching dance. Carolyn and her husband Kevin, as well as their two daughters enjoy all that the beautiful Shuswap area has to offer. They own and operate Shuswap Total Fitness and Junglemania. Thank you, Carolyn, for taking time out of your busy schedule to be a judge.
Judge Tracy Hughes
After earning the first-place prize in the pro-am category of the first Dancing with the Shuswap Stars, Tracy got hooked! So ever since the first competition, she decided to continue with dance lessons. She has now expanded her abilities to include a number of other dance styles including Latin, ballroom, tango and even some country. She also was thrilled to continue to be a part of the event as a judge – especially because she knows exactly how it feels to be in the dancers’ shoes. In addition to dancing, Tracy is a busy mom of three kids. She enjoys spending time with her family and her dog hiking or at the lake in the summer or out on the ski or snowshoe trails at Larch Hills in the winter. Tracy is thrilled to be back judging again for a second year.
Judge David Izik-Dzurko
David is an active member of the Larch Hills Nordic Society and has been an announcer for a number of provincial ski club events. His dancing experience goes back to grade seven standing against the gym wall for most of Stairway to Heaven, before working up the nerve to ask a girl to dance. Now he is a “dance dad” supporting the efforts of his ballerina daughter. David has choreographed dozens of musicals as a music teacher and music theatre director. He has performed in choirs, concert bands, operas, rock bands and as an Elvis impersonator. We thank David for taking on the role of judge again this year.
MC Jared King
Coming off a scintillating Salsa routine which he performed last year with his wife Andi, Jared returns to us this year as Master of Ceremonies. If he spiced up the dance floor last year, we look forward to him doing the same thing behind the microphone this year.
Jared has lived in Salmon Arm for ten years and he and his wife have four wonderful children as well as a dog. As an administrator in the school district, Jared has had many opportunities to be behind a microphone. We are honored to have Jared as our MC this year.
