Amanda didn’t have to be asked twice about participating in Dancing with the Shuswap Stars: and it didn’t take her but a minute to turn to Caleb who was manning the front desk at Uptown SASCU, and ask him if he’d like to be her partner. She’s a fan of any dancing that is fun and fast. OK, so why is she doing the Rumba? Or is she going to turn it up a notch? The real answer is that Amanda likes any style of dancing and is excited to learn something new. She used to dance in Just for Kicks “way back in the day” which gave her some experience in dancing in front of an audience. She also auditioned for “So you think you can dance Canada” in 2008. And now ten years later she is competing right here in Salmon Arm. Her days consist of working full time at SASCU, being a momma to four beautiful children, relaxing at the beach and doing yoga. During the winter she is a full time hockey mom.
Caleb was born in Salmon Arm and was happy to be able to move back here after graduating from UBC. He was surprised to hear that SASCU had never had a participating couple in Dancing with the Shuswap Stars, so when Amanda asked him if he would participate with her he jumped at the chance or as he says, “I was actually volunteered”. Caleb is not new to performing in front of an audience. He was in musical theatre for all four years of high school. He also was a star in the Haney Heritage Village Villains and Vittles dinner theater. While he is most familiar with swing dancing, he is eager to expand his repertoire. Besides performing, Caleb enjoys yoga and runs a weekly Dungeons and Dragons group. Good luck to Caleb and Amanda as they compete in the Couples Division.
