Judges 2021 new

Mike and Avery are back as guest Judges

Avery Shoaf, one of the stars’ of the program Rust Valley Restorers will also be a star judge. And we know Avery’s quite a character. For example, Avery’s favorite style of dance is pole dancing… but there won’t be a pole at this event! (Sorry, Avery!).  Avery says his favorite hobby is aggravating Rust Valley Restorers co-star Mike Hall.  But ultimately Avery has agreed to judge the event order to help out Shuswap Hospice.

Michael has lived in the Shuswap for 25 years, and now he’s known by practically everyone in town thanks to his distinctive dreadlocks and the starring role in the Rust Valley Restorers television show.  Clearly old cars are a passion for Mike, not to mention his other source of employment, which is blowing things up as an explosive expert. We know he’s going to bring that explosive energy as a judge in support of Shuswap Hospice.

Carolyn Wonacott-Judge

Carolyn agreed to be a judge for Dancing with the Shuswap Stars “because she was asked”. Carolyn is very happy to help out even though she epitomizes the quote: “If you want something done, ask a busy person to do it.”

The Shuswap has been home to Carolyn and her family for twelve years. She is well known in our community as the artistic director of Shuswap Dance Centre. The exploration of dance has been her passion and profession for most of her adult life. She has lived and worked in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, California and Mexico and has always been busy with either performing or teaching dance. Her favourite style of dance is ballet. She has enjoyed chaperoning trips to California and New York for her senior pupils to give them the opportunity to explore dance career opportunities.

Carolyn and her husband Kevin, as well as their two daughters, enjoy all that the beautiful Shuswap area has to offer. They own and operate Shuswap Total Fitness and Junglemania.

David Izik-Dzurko-Judge

David is an active member of the Larch Hills Nordic Society and has been an announcer for a number of provincial ski club events. His dancing experience goes back to grade seven standing against the gym wall for most of Stairway to Heaven, before working up the nerve to ask a girl to dance. Now he is a “dance dad” supporting the efforts of his ballerina daughter. David has choreographed dozens of musicals as a music teacher and music theatre director. He has performed in choirs, concert bands, operas, rock bands and as an Elvis impersonator. We thank David for taking on the role of judge again this year.

Jared King-MC

Jared returns to us this year as Master of Ceremonies. He spiced up the dance floor a few years ago, we look forward to him doing the same thing behind the microphone this year. Jared has lived in Salmon Arm for ten plus years and he and his wife have four wonderful children as well as a dog. As a principle in the south canoe school, Jared has had many opportunities to be behind a microphone. We are honored to have Jared as our MC again this year.
